Below is the proposed route of Roam, starting in Aracaju, Brazil in January/February 2006 and ending in Charleston in June 2006. The
total distance is about 5,000 nautical miles. (A nautical mile is 115% of a statute mile - see, this is an educational website.)
The small island group out off the tip of South America is called Fernando de Norohna. It's a national park of Brazil and is about
500 miles from Aracaju. From Fernando de Norohna to Trinidad is about 2000 miles, which will be the longest non-stop segment of our
trip. Once in the Caribbean, the longest distance between islands is about 80 miles, until we leave the Caribbean for the Bahamas,
a trip of 400 miles. The last long leg will be the Bahamas to Charleston, which will be a short hop of 450 miles. On our best days,
we may go 200 or so miles, but hopefully will average around 150 miles, so you can figure the length of each leg in days.
